Engineering Technician III (Part Time On Call)

Job Summary:

Job duties vary greatly depending on the test being supported. Common tasks are as a Data Collector/Radio Operator/Site Monitor supporting the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) at Ft Huachuca, AZ. The employee will monitor the operation of a variety of test equipment utilizing established methods or procedures specified by test officials. The employee will receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from the section supervisor or Task Lead, as needed. All work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. May be asked to operate systems in test (training will be provided). May be asked to work alternate shifts (days or nights), 6 days a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

§ Performs technical functions with minimal supervision (i.e. Preparing reports, charts and graphs for other personnel to review and present.

§ The employee will monitor the operation of a variety of test equipment utilizing established methods or procedures specified by test officials.

§ Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, following standard work methods on recurring assignments but received explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments.

§ Assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment

§ Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors

§ Operators must be proficient and able to type information, on a virtual keyboard, on a computer tablet or laptop

§ Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.

§ Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects.

§ This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary

§ When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.

Educational/Training Requirements:

§ High School Diploma and 4 years of technical experiencehold and maintain TS or TS/SCI clearance or a tactical vehicle certification (JLTV, AMPV, Stryker, etc) or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Required Skills/Experience:

§ Basic computer skills are required

Work Environment:

§ Working outside in the various weather elements (rain, snow, wind, sunshine, etc.) associated with the local area surrounding Fort Huachuca & Sierra Vista. Will be outside working out on the desert terrain with uneven inclines and slopes

§ Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time

§ May be working in a confined space like a HMMWV military vehicle

Physical Demands:

§ Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to

§ complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner

§ Operators must be able to carry 30lbs radio equipment in a pack on their back

§ Walk approximately 3 miles a day, and stand for up to five hours at a time while carrying a tablet computer and other instrumentation devices.

§ Operators must have the ability to visually see objects close in on a small tablet/laptop computers or "smart" phones.

§ May be working in a confined space like a HMMWV military vehicle

§ Ability to successfully pass a drug screen

Other Skills and Abilities:

§ Must always demonstrate professional behavior when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written

§ Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others.

§ Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
