Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) Site Analyst/System Administrator

The Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) Site Analyst/System Administrator will report directly to the CMOC Supervisor/ CMOC Assistant Supervisor. This position is located at Thule AFB, Greenland.

The Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) Site Analyst/System Administrator has overall technical responsibility for maintaining the UEWR Prime Mission Equipment (PME) and UEWR Simulator-Tester (UST) systems and associated network equipment. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the changing needs of contract performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Overall technical lead for the CMOC, develops and implements backup strategies and system restoration procedures, continually strive to improve operating and maintenance procedures and checklists using upgraded software prior to acceptance and remove and maintain user accounts.

• Act as a mentor and trainer for the Consolidated Maintenance and Operations Center (CMOC) technicians to develop and refine operational procedures and system knowledge.

• Provide on-call support when outside of normal working hours.

• Monitor disk storage capacities and maintain adequate disk storage availability for all users and applications, acknowledge and resolve problems with Oracle databases.

• Maintain PME and UST computer cybersecurity procedures in accordance with applicable Department of Defense directives.

• Implement and maintain configuration management of the bonded system software, hardware, firmware and scripts in accordance with Technical Orders, system guides and as-built documentation.

• Follow and support all Safety and Security regulations and policies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational/Training Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent training with experience.

• Must have demonstrated knowledge with IRIX/Solaris operating systems, IRIX network administration, Storage Area Networks, RAID administration (CXFS), Failsafe, Volume Management, and SGI (Silicon Graphics, Inc.) equipment. Total Performance, Oracle 9i databases, Perl/Python/shell scripting, MATLAB or Mathematica, X Windows and TCP/IP networking.

• Must understand software licensing, C++ software building process, configuration control.

• Must have hands on experience with SGI hardware (Origin 3000, TP9100), Solaris Blade and Ultra systems, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances, Cisco and Brocade switches and Storage Tek jukeboxes. Must possess Comp TIA Security+ certification.

• Must have Active Security Clearance.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbally.

• Preference is given to personnel with knowledge of Solid State Phased Array Radar Systems (SSPARS), space tracking, missile warning and Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) missions.

Supervision:

• Works under the general supervision of the CMOC Supervisor.

Work Environment:

• Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Rotation schedule will be 8 weeks on and 5 weeks off with possibility of adjustment. A 72-hour work week will be the norm with possibility of on call, after hours work.

• Walking, siting, typing, bending and lifting items as required within position requirements
